Meet Howard Martin
Seven generations on this island
Howard Martin is a seventh-generation Norfolk Islander, and the island's National Park has been part of his life for as long as he can remember.
Howie's Hikes began as a way to share that connection properly, not just a walk through Mt Pitt and Mt Bates, but the stories, language and history that come with them. Howard spends real, individual time with every hiker, showing them Norfolk Island the way a local actually sees it.
Behind the hikes is something Howard cares about deeply: keeping the Norf'k culture and language alive for the generations still to come.
This island has been in my family for seven generations. When I'm out on the trail, I'm not just showing you the National Park, I'm sharing who we are.
